How do I know if the ActiveStart unit is working?

The green light on both plugs will turn on. That indicates power is going through the unit. Turn on the appliance and it should start.

Can the ActiveStart product be used with a Micro Air Easy Start installing on the AC Unit?

Yes…The activestart is compatible with the EasyStart and other wired softstarters.

Do I need a bonding plug to use the ActiveStart Rv soft start plug and play?

This unit is ready to be used right out the box, it will work directly with your generator. On our app make sure to change the power settings to the closest one to your setup. You do not need a bonding plug but it is recommended

Is this compatible with a 3000 watt constant, 6000 watt surge pure sine inverter. 30 amp service?

Our product is compatible with your inverter. It has been tested on Bluetti and other inverter systems

Would I achieve similar results with an ActiveStart 50 AMP instead of two 16 amp SoftStarters in RV use? Are you able to run an active start and SoftStarer simultaneously?

Yes you can run a wired softstart and activestart together. If you have a 50 Amp plug on your RV then the 50 Amp will be able to start both easily on 3000 watt generator. I would recommend the 50 Amp activestart because it gives you the additional functionality of Surge Protection and the ability to monitor the total power usage of your RV and easy to use. The wired will give you the starting capability anywhere you go and any generator.

I have an ac unit that I can run on a honda 2200, but it causes the fan to momentarily stop when the compressor kicks on. Am I correct in understanding that your 20Amp model should eliminate that issue? Also, I am able to run my AC when I plug into an 15Amp plug outside my home. Will this device make that connection more efficient or is there no benefit?

That’s correct. The fan might be stalling because the voltage dips for too long and our device will solve that by ramping the voltage at the rate the generator can handle it so the fan shouldn’t stall as we do this very quickly. As for the outlet connection it sounds like you don’t need it right now. The only scenario might be when it is much hotter outside your AC will draw more current to start and that might be when you need it.

We are new to the Active-Control/Soft Start concept but from what we have seen in videos we are very interested. One question we have, does the soft start product replace a surge protector?

The ActiveStart has a surge protector that is optional in the 50 amp but our 20& 30 amp have it included. The 50 amp is expected to be released mid-March for $700.

Will the Active Start RV run my 15k air conditioner with a Honda 2000 inverter generator? My 5th wheel has a 30 amp system.

No. The ActiveStart has been very successful starting AC’s on small generators but A 15K AC is large and we recommend at least 2500 watts to have enough during the summer months. But the Honda’s are the few that have been able to consistently start large AC’s but again not with only 2000 watts.

Reverse Polarity & Bonding Plugs?

If your generator is unbonded, meaning it doesn’t have a neutral and ground bonding inside, a separate ‘bonding plug’ can be used to negate this problem. Bonding plugs are easy to find and all you have to do is plug it into an available outlet on a generator. Then, based on the red or green light indicator, you will be able to tell if your power supply has been stabilized and properly bonded. If it has not been and you see that red light indicator, that may be the source of the reverse polarity fault you detected.

Pro Tip For Running Two ACs On Limited Power:

Focus on running your main AC. This is the AC unit that’s going to have the best effect for you and then run the second AC on only fan. The fan setting takes very little power but still helps to circulate the colder air throughout the rig extremely important when outdoor temperature is very high and heating up the electronics.
